On Blogging

“Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes” – Andy Warhol
Harry Chapin has a song called Mr Tanner. This is the chorus: ” But music was his life, it was not his livelihood, and it made him feel so happy and it made him feel so good. And he sang from his heart and he sang from his soul. He did not know how well he sang: it just made him whole”. Take out the word sing and put in the word writing, and this pretty much sums up why I started blogging.
Interesting thing happens when you start putting your memories and thoughts out there. And by out there I am referring to blogging. And by putting it out there, I am referring to the 6-10 readers I now have.
Alls fun and games when I am self deprecating. Which, I might add, is pretty much all the time. It is when I make mention by name, or by description of a person, things get sticky.
So as to not have my children disown me, they will from here forward NOT be mentioned by name. I will simply refer to them as “this one”, “that one”, and “the one of whom shall remain nameless”. As my readers, you will have to figure out who is who. I also will mix those terms up to keep the privacy of my spawns. First fire put out.
Secondly, if in the future you are mentioned, either directly, or indirectly in my writings, take it as a compliment. I am who I am because of all my life experiences. If you have been a part of my life, at some point you will hear a memory we share. It is inevitable. If the blog is DIRECTLY about you, I will send you a private viewing prior to publishing it. You will have the last say. If you don’t get a private message, and read something you think may be about you, it is NOT. Get over yourself.
And last but not least. Blogging is my escape and I love writing so much. I am NOT a professional. My memories are just that, MY memories. Time might alter actual precise details, but remember, it is my recollection. Some memories are 40 plus years old. Don’t worry if you don’t remember a shared memory the same way. We all see life through our own eyes.
Finally, and this is the most important, I thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I have done some brave things in my life, but sharing my writing is one of the bravest. It makes me feels so happy. It makes me feel so good. It just makes me whole.
