I put our oldest in Sunday school at a temple by our house when she was 5. She attended for about a
year. It was far away, expensive and since Sunday is our family down day, it was just inconvenient and we stopped sending her. She did get a Bat Mitzvah certificate, on Mount Sinai, when she went to Israel last year. Score! What I did teach my children is that “holy is what holy does”. Our shared religion in our home is kindness.
I digressed, back to the Christmas card. This is the first Christmas that our family of 5 will not all be together. “This one” came home at Thanksgiving, so she is going to Chicago for Christmas and New york for New years. “The one that shall remain nameless” was not home for Thanksgiving and will only be able be home for a few days, leaving on Christmas day. “That one” feels sad both her sisters won’t be here. I do too.
So you won’t be getting a holiday card with us sitting eating marshmallows, chocolate and graham
crackers wishing you “smore happy days”, nor will you be getting the 5 of us wearing light up red noses
for your mantel. What you will get is this blog, and my wish that you, your family and loved ones have a
magical, merry, happy, and blessed holiday filled with Peace. From my family, to yours.
