“I’m back in the saddle again, Out where a friend is a friend”. -Gene Aultry
We moved to San Diego 1.5 years ago. As a “social experiment”, and honestly being totally burnt out, I did not work or even look for a job. These 18 months have taught me a lot about myself.
First and foremost, I learned that making a living, and making a life are mutually exclusive. Since I had my babies when I was just a baby, my career has been being a mom. Very rewarding, but the pay is zilch, and for some reason, it doesn’t really hold up on a work transcript.
I am very excited to announce I found a job! One I really want! Right now I am in the process of getting all the hiring forms to human resources. These include a drug test (passed... shocker), finger printing, a lift test (I had to carry 75lbs around a room), a full physical (I apparently grew an inch? bahahah), and blood work! I also had to pull my DMV records. Not to brag, but I don’t have a criminal record
(yet). And now I am dealing with getting my college transcripts from, wait for it, 29 years ago! “That one” asked if there were even computers back then. She wasn’t kidding. I can’t remember back that far!!
The job is as a community training instructor. I will be working with developmentally disabled adults. I get to take my new friends to their work sites, and out and about in our neighborhood. I am seriously so so so psyched! My blog will probably suffer, so bear with me. I am not used to working full-time, so I will have to find the balance.
